What is the Link Between the Two?
Infertility pertains to a woman’s inability to conceive or to reach full term in pregnancy. In fact, there are over 6 million infertile women today in the United States, based on a study by the CDC. Among the causes of infertility are hormonal changes, nervous system dysfunction, and fallopian tube damages, to name a few. There are several treatment options for this condition including medications that help stimulate the ovaries, cyst removal through surgery and IVF or in vitro fertilization, which is quite costly.
In addition to these common causes of infertility in women, there were studies that show how poor nervous system function also lead to this problem. The truth is, a healthy nervous system matters so much in ensuring fertility since the reproductive organs are directed by the autonomic nervous system or ANS. The peripheral nervous system, which is controlled by the central nervous system, affects the ANS that enables the proper functioning of the reproductive organs.
To ensure conception, the egg must be able to travel from the ovary and into the fallopian tube, which will then result to fertilization once it meets with the sperm. This movement that the egg makes is completed through peristalsis, which is also the similar action that enables the proper digestion of food in the gastrointestina tract as it is propelled in this body system. The central nervous system and peripheral nervous system both work together in allowing the propelling of the egg through the fallopian tube.
However, when there is a misalignment in your spine, nerve communication present between the CNS and PNS is interfered. This is the reason why there is a link between chiropractic and infertility. Hence, it helps to see a specialist who can realign your spine and make sure that your reproductive organs will return to their normal functioning. With this in mind, consulting an experienced chiropractor can help you achieve these results and resolve infertility issues.
